One of the most morphologically diverse species of Drosera and easily one of the most overhated, this species is found in a multitude of locations in the Cape of South Africa. This clone is absolutely massive. Someone gave this plants steroids, SARMS, and growth hormones, and then made it mad. It's easily the largest (diameter wise) of any of my sundews, reaching maybe 10" across. The leaves themselves are rather narrow and often turn a reddish color under stronger light. It also seems to produce plantlets from it's roots, but that also may be a sign of roots overcrowding in the pot. I highly recommend this clone to anyone, and it contrasts nicely to stockier, more compact capensis. I haven't gotten this plant to flower yet, but it'll be interesting to see if the seedlings show the same traits.
I'm not sure if other plants in cultivation from Montague Pass are all this big. Almost all of the Montague Pass plants I've seen also have had the word "giant" in their title.
Growing Conditions: Grow Rack, Windowsill
Light: Very bright LED, 14" under a Marshydro 300w
Soil: Peat, perlite, sand, well draining but holds moisture well
Temperatures: Room temperatures around 74F to 84F (winter to summer months)
Humidity: No added humidity, ambient household humidity
Watering: Watered using the tray method, either sitting in 1/4" water or flooded weekly
Care Level: Very Easy, perfect beginner plant
