Drosera fulva belongs to the petiolaris complex (subgenus Lasiocephala), a group of Drosera known as "woolly sundews" and native to northern Australia. Distinguished by their long petioles that are often covered in a silvery hair, these plants look like tiny pincushions or sea urchins. They love high light, warm temps, and lots of water. This is a nice species of petio complex Drosera that is native to the wet, lowland environments in the southeast regions of the Northern Territory (Finnis River Girraween, Girraween Lagoon, Howard River, Howard River Bridge, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, Koolpinyah, and Noonamah). Their name originates from their color (fulva meaning yellowish red), and appear similar to species such as D. brevicornis and D. diltato-petiolaris. The leaves are a silvery white green, and the traps always seem to stay a pleasant orange. Not any more difficult than other petio complex sundews I've grown, but seems to randomly go dormant sometimes. I've lost plants when they go dormant so I try and prevent that from happening. This particular plant has died back when I let temps drop too much. I feed a lot and keep warm, and this plant rewards me with pink flowers on tall, hairy scapes. Temperatures should never drop below 74 or so, and this plant never sees temperatures below 78F.
