Drosera petiolaris belongs to the petiolaris complex (subgenus Lasiocephala), a group of Drosera known as "woolly sundews" and native to northern Australia. Distinguished by their long petioles that are often covered in a silvery hair, these plants look like tiny pincushions or sea urchins. They love high light, warm temps, and lots of water. This species is probably the easiest most likely due to it's widespread distribution (even as far as New Guinea) but like all petio complex species, it tends to randomly go dormant. I've provided it with constant warm temps and feed regularly, but it still will try and die back. Dormancy in petio complex dews seems to be more of a survival effort rather than a necessity like those in temperate plants. Avoid them dying back at all costs, as it may not wake up again.
Growing Conditions: Grow rack with heat mat
Light: Very bright LED, Marshydro 300w
Soil: Peat, perlite, sand, well draining but holds moisture well
Temperatures: Room temperatures around 78F to 84F (winter to summer months)
Humidity: No added humidity, ambient household humidity. These plants will appreciate higher humidity as well
Watering: Watered using the tray method, either sitting in 1/4" water or flooded weekly
Care Level: Easy-medium. One of the easier petio complex plants, but can be finicky at times
