This species is a member of the section Orcheosanthus, which are most notably characterized by a very long spur that is longer than the corolla tube. In the wild, cyclosecta grows on shady, almost vertical cliff faces alongside ferns and selaginella in the state of Nuevo Leon. Pinguicula cyclosecta is one of the most unique pings out there. The leaves are a distinct purplish black that is almost metallic. The low growing leaves are pressed together tightly and emerge from the center and expand outwards. Flowers are small, but a dark purplish blue with ruffled edges. A very easy grower that does best with high light, which brings out the purple color it's famous for. Currently potted in a mix of peat, perlite, sand, and vermiculite. This plant slowly clumps, producing new growth points from the base of the plants, underneath the old leaves.
