Pinguicula rotundiflora is a member of section Heterophyllum subsection Isolobopsis, related to other species such as kondoi, parvifolia, acuminata, etc. This species is found at Minas de Asbesto at Jaumave, Tamualipas as well as several locations in Nuevo Leon (north of Aramberri, Rayones-Galeana Gorge, and the pine-oak woodlands near Galeana). In the wild, these plants are found growing in calcareous soil, often times with gypsum. An easy growing species for me, I've found this plant to be a moderate grower that slowly forms clumps and flowers in the cooler months. It's currently growing on a mix of vermiculite, crushed coral, perlite, and the tiniest amount of peat. I would expect this plant to prefer more inorganic parts to the media, as well as being slightly more alkaline. It should appreciate the crushed coral added to the mix. If not, you can yell at it for being an ungrateful little brat.
